Guest Speaker

Simon Weston CBE

In 1982 the ship The RFA Sir Galahad was hit in the Bluff Cove air attack during the Falklands conflict, on board was Simon Weston, Welsh Guardsman. Simon was severely injured, sustaining serious burns to 46% of his body. His struggle to overcome his injuries and redefine his role in life, has taken forty years and that story is not over. His life can be summed up by the achievements in whatever he attempts, with huge triumphs in the face of adversity, and of seizing the moment and succeeding … Simon Weston CBE has dedicated his life to helping others and raising millions for charity. This year has seen him returning to the South Atlantic, meeting the pilot of the Argentine aircraft who dropped the bomb and reflecting on a life that so very nearly ended in 1982.  Now 61 and a grandfather, Simon will open up his heart and tell you the story of his life … so far.
